“Above all else, guard your heart”
Mark Miller did not start out in a leadership position. Like most people, he started out as a hard working individual, working an hourly job to support himself. He started working as an hourly worker at Chick-Fil-A back in 1977. Through hard work, dedication, and a will to learn and grow, Mark climbed up the ladder and took advantage of the opportunity to join Chick-Fil-A’s corporate team when it was just getting started.
Today, Mark serves as the Vice President of Organizational Effectiveness for the global food franchise, and has been one of the key factors in the company’s growth to over 5 billion dollars in annual sales. It’s been quite a journey for him and he has developed himself into one of the top leaders in the country.
In addition to leading Chick-Fil-A, Mark has also authored several books on the topic of leadership, and team work. He teamed up with Ken Blanchard a few years back to write The Secret: What Good Leaders Know- And Do. His most recent work, The Heart of Leadership, has inspired thousands on what it truly takes to be a leader.
Mark was generous enough to share his story with me earlier this week. He shared with me some if the best advice anyone could give on the topic of leadership.
For anyone looking to start their own venture, or reach higher levels of their organization, your leadership abilities will be key to your success. Mark has some inside tips that can help you grow into a real leader and someone who is capable of becoming a superstar.
