There is a reason why they say “Breakfast is your most important meal of the day!” and “Take care of the first hour in your day, and the rest of your day will take care of itself”. These sayings all refer to the importance of your mornings and making them powerful.
Your morning routine is what will MAKE OR BREAK your entire day. And as we all know, our lives are simply made up of a series of days! You have to make every day count, because at the end of each day you have to kiss that particular day good bye, never to be seen again. SO YOU BETTER MAKE IT COUNT!
Evan Carmichael, an entrepreneur and YouTube star, shares his tips for making your morning routine as effective as possible…
1. Start preparing the night before
Mornings are an extremely hectic time. They are filled with moments of trying to get your %&*# together, doing last minute things, and trying to make up for the fact that you hit the snooze button one too many times.
Your morning can go a lot smoother if you spend some time the previous evening getting prepared for your wild morning. Lay out the clothes your going to where, get your work papers and brief case organized, or at the very least decide what you are going to have for breakfast and organize the items within’ the fridge.
When you do this, it can take away some of the stress that comes with a busy, eventful morning. Rest at ease knowing that the important things have already been completed right when open your eyes.
2. Have a family moment
In the mornings we are usually running around like a maniac trying not to be late for wherever we need to be. We can often times forget to tell the one’s we love how much they mean to us. And if we go too many days without expressing this, who knows what will become of these relationships.
No matter who you live with, be it your mom, your dad, your girlfriend, or some crazy roommates, take the time to tell them you love and care about them. Just spend 20-30 seconds giving them your time, love and energy and let them them know that your life is better because they are a part of it. This will give them a great start to their day 🙂
3. Play some music
Music just gets you pumped up, am I right!? When that one song comes on and you just start to feel yourself smile and tap your feet, it’s a great feeling. That’s a feeling you want to inject in your body to start your day. Imagine if you just felt excited and happy for a few minutes in the morning and then took that energy into the rest of your day. How much more effective would you be?
4. Have some water
When we wake up, we usually have been dehydrated for 7-8 hours. Our body is tired and groggy and our mouth is dry. It’s not the best feeling to have when you are trying to motor your way out of bed and into your morning routine.
Have some water right when you get up. It will clear your throat and give you a nice cold sensation. Your body deserves to be rewarded after a good hard night of sleep!
Most people tell themselves they are going to exercise sometime during the day, but never actually get it in their schedule. The reason it’s a good idea to get it in your morning routine is because it not only gets your body juices flowing and feeling good for the day, but life tends to bring on a lot of distractions, and you may not find the time to workout if you don’t get it out of the way early in your day.
Evan Carmichael recommends making sure you get this done in the morning. We all know how important exercise is, and the morning is a solid time to get some form of it in.
Go on a quick run, do those floor abs, just do something 🙂
6. Think of your “Why”
Your WHY is your reason for doing what you are doing. If you have a business or career that you are looking to take to astronomical levels, it’s important to think about exactly WHY you want that…every single day.
And don’t just think your MAJOR WHY. It can also be a fun and valuable exercise to think of all the smaller reasons you are working towards what you are working on.
Think of all the people you are helping, all the lives you are changing, and the the impact you want to make.
7. Do a task that gives you energy
What are the things that just fire you up? Is it doing 25 jumping jacks? Is it watching a Tony Robbins motivational clip? Think about the little things that give you energy and make it a priority to incorporate those tasks into your morning.
These little things will 100% contribute to a happier morning, which will easily translate into a more energetic, productive day!
