21 Steps to Overcoming Procrastination

It’s easier said than done. I know you have heard it all, tried to implement and failed. Welcome to the Club!!

We all have this problem in one form or another. Whether it’s waiting until the last minute to put together your tax receipts, cleaning up the house or doing your homework it comes down to the same thing. YOU don’t want to do it. You can tell yourself you work better under pressure (yeah right) or you are looking for the “opportune time” to start the process. Whatever you call it, it’s the same thing. You have to get into action.

Many of us want everything to be “perfect”. Well, get over it. Because most of the time it won’t be and that’s okay. You can always make it “perfect” later. If you look at the task in its entirety it’s like a huge boulder on your shoulder. Instead of getting the boulder off, we keep sinking deeper and deeper into the pit. Some people can ignore it and move on with other things. Most of us just get this nagging feeling in the back of our mind telling us to get moving and get it done.

Below are a few quick tips and questions to ask yourself so you can push forward:

Sometimes people procrastinate because they are too addicted to other activities even they know their priorities. Quite often they are not organized and don’t have a system. They don’t mind as much that by delaying working on the deadlines is going to cost money.

If things get to overwhelming, it is easy to become “paralized” and do nothing. I agree with not taking on more than you can chew!
